We launched EngAge eCommunications about a year ago. This powerful program allows senior care companies to connect with their audience through three online tools that we create and distribute for you: blogs, social media and email. Program components include:

  • One email newsletter per month to your residents, patients, prospects, clients, and referral sources using your blog posts as the main content, and including company news and local event information as desired.
  • Two blogs posts per month on relevant topics your audience cares about.
  • Three Facebook posts per week about senior care issues, company news, or events in your community.

We thought it was time to take a look back at how the program is working for one of our clients – Emily Saltz of LifeCare Advocates in Newton, Massachusetts, outside of Boston. Emily started the program in August 2015. Prior to that time, LifeCare Advocates had no virtually no social media presence and no regular blog.

“I understood the importance of having an online media presence, I just didn’t have the time to make it happen nor did I have any interest in it,” says Emily. “When I heard about EngAge, it just seemed like a natural fit, because we do not have a marketing department that could do it.”

To accommodate her new program, we integrated her blog into her website by creating its own page and separate pages for publications and events. Now, people can go to “Emily’s Blog” to read about the latest in senior health and care.

“The content is always professional and speaks to my audience’s interests,” says Emily. “It’s great to have all of this going on without my having to spend time writing and finding articles. It allows me to concentrate on taking care of my clients, which is what I love to do. IlluminAge works behind the scenes making my business look great. And the best part is that is takes virtually no effort on my part.”

The results were immediate. “I went from 0 to 100 in about a month,” says Emily. “All of a sudden, I had a well-coordinated, sophisticated content-oriented social media program. Colleagues noticed the difference right away and gave such positive feedback regarding my presence on social media.  They asked me how this happened? I told them what happened was the EngAge program.”

Emily’s website traffic for March of 2016 was 36 percent higher than it was in March 2015, before she started the program. Her email open rates doubled in that same time period, increasing from an average of 18 percent before the program to 36 percent and her mailing list grew by nearly 70 percent. Every time she sends an email newsletter, she gets a spike of new people visiting her website. Her Facebook followers continue to grow steadily, increasing 20 percent since the first month of the program (after the initial rush of friends liked the page within that time period). The engagement on her Facebook page is also quite high, reaching an average of about 80 percent of the number of people who like her page per post.
“Having someone looking out for me and looking out for my practice and giving me relevant and timely information is invaluable,” says Emily. “The content I get from IlluminAge is terrific, the writing is really high quality, and the attention to detail is amazing. It is money well spent.”
