On Tuesday, January 12, Microsoft will stop supporting older versions of its popular Internet Explorer browser. The software giant is advising people to upgrade to IE 11 or its new Edge browser. Failure to make the upgrade could expose users to greater security risks.

“In addition to the increased security risks, older browsers mean you’re missing out on all the new features and options newer browsers offer,” says Kevin Freitas, IlluminAge’s Web Development Lead. “For instance, with a newer browser, you’ll discover websites run more smoothly and it’s easier to manage passwords for various accounts across the Web.”

There are also many browser options beyond Internet Explorer, such as Firefox or Chrome. These browsers all do automatic updates, as IE’s new Edge browser will do, so that you don’t need to think about browser updates again. You can surf the Internet with the comfort of knowing that your browser is current with the season. It may be fun to explore new browser options and see if any of those options feel more comfortable to you – most of our team has at least two browser options in regular use.
